Combating Hoarding or the Purge 2012

Good afternoon all!

I’ve been busy, taking an inventory of the mess my house is in. It’s part of the inventory process I used to talk about much more often here at the anonymousknitter blog.

I come from a line of hoarders, and in the moves that I’ve done so far this year, I realize that I have too much crap. I also realize that I am a slob, I’d rather play farmville2 than clean my house or take care of those things that need doing each day.

So, i decided to take pictures, lots of them, with my favorite camera, and take a hard look at the unmanageability in my life. The results are disturbing, and not pretty. I have so much work to do, that I could fall into the apoplexy of being overwhelmed and say to myself, “To heck with it.” and do nothing.

I can’t do that. I really can’t. Not and let you my readers and listeners come to the conclusion that I am some hyper Mom who gets everything done on time. Remember, I’m the one talking all the time about being organized…

I include pictures, to give you an honest appraisal of what I haven’t been doing. I figure it is time for some rigourous honesty, and it is time to do something about it… So the following pictures are included as a “before” image, to give me an impetus to get my butt moving.

As a blogger and a podcaster, I realize that this is going out to all my listeners and my readers. Even so, I think it is time to get to work. I’ve decided that I’m going to get my housework done, slowly over the next few days. I’ve also decided to keep it neat, and give you updates as I go.

So, with out further ado, here’s the results.

A dog for an alarm clock

Here in the town, my alarm is set for at least 2 and 3 hours later than it was in the country. I have a beautiful trio of dogs that sleep with me. They are my babies, and I love them immensely most hours of the day.
Yet the moment my alarm goes of, one particular fuzzy face has to give me kisses to greet me first for the day. She wants to be the first one to give me snuggles and loves.
I am pre-coffee when she does this.
I realize, that I need to change my attitudes somehow in the early hours of my day. She is being sweet, loving and kind. I am a grouch, a curmudgeon, and I rarely make sense first thing in the morning.
So, for the love of my furry alarm clock, I will try very hard to be gentle and kind. I love her that much.

Keep on Keeping on

Hello all,

I’ve been working on several things all week, and sadly neglecting the blog. Chuckle, I have good motives, I swear. I do, honest. Actually, I’ve been working on the podcast, as well as the facebook pages

But that doesn’t give me a valid excuse. So, here I am.

I’ve been crocheting the wedding afghan 2 and I’m almost ready to start the second block if you want to follow along.

I’ve got to get working on the other purse that I’m making, I need to have it done by Sunday. I’m thinking of using the same yarn as in little purse. We will see what happens. In the Little Purse, the second link I posted in this paragraph, I used exclusively front post single and double crochet. In this one, I’m going to be combining crochet and knitting. The problem is, in getting it down on the needles and on paper.

I’ve also been unloading the woman cave on wheels, and reloading my sewing room for winter usage. As the weather gets colder outside, I have much more need for working on my projects in a safe and warm environment.

And lastly, I’m turning the sewing room into my own personal version on South Dakota. South Dakota, the state is where I can go to regroup, to relax, and to have fun. I want my sewing room to have the same feel, the same vibe for me. Therefore, I have quite a bit of work to do in here. It’s not sane, but it works.

I have a few other things that are happening behind the scenes here, but that’s part and parcel of my life. It seems that the busier I am, and the more structure I have with my life, the happier I am. I’m just okay with that.

For now, I’d better get back to work, will chat with you again later!

It all started with a bonk on the head…

Hello all,
Last night, I decided to work in my own “woman cave on wheels” and laid down for a bit of a nap. I woke in the middle of the night for one of those emergency dashes, and dashed my head on something harder than my melon. I saw stars, and almost lost control.
I laid down, and Thank Goodness the hubs decided to check on me. He woke me up, and made sure I came into the house so he could keep an eye on me.
It was a long night. Before long, a migraine set in, but when I called the ER nurse, I didn’t have any dangerous symptoms. In the course of the morning, we went to purchase provisions, (mother hubbard’s cupboard comes to mind here) and scurry back. By the time we got back, it was 6 am…
Between laying back in the recliner, and eventually laying down, the headache eased a bit. I’ve been too unsettled to even knit today.
However, I have been a busy bug. I updated the website, and got some wonderful help from 2 other bloggers. I wrote 2 pages, and organized my next few podcast episodes. I even made time for lunch.
The results should help, but I wish I could do more. For whatever reason, knitting or crochet weren’t in the cards today, and working on any projects just wasn’t going to happen.
I had planned to organize my studio, work on the website, and record an episode in time for me to get the production work done.
There was a point when my own voice hurt, so that just wasn’t an option.
I’ve got a meeting to go to shortly, so I don’t have time now to get any production work started. But there are many good things about today.
I was able to get out and about a bit. I was able to do some mischievous computer work. I was able to get some upgrades started for the website.
I’ve learned to let go of what I can’t control, and let God handle the rest. I just wish I could have delegated some of the other chores I needed to do today.
Oh well, the laundry can wait.
It was a scorcher today in MN, and a muggy day at that. I’m looking forward to the fall, when the skeeters die down, the leaves start turning colors, and the nights get that crisp snowy scent to them. One of my neighbors burns apple wood in his stove. It’s nights like those when I sit out with a heavy afghan in progress and let the needles or hooks fly… It’s nights like those when the hands are comforted by a nice cup of hot-cocoa.
Today, the kids were back to school. Which is a good thing, but it left me longing desperately for the fall to come.
Maybe that knock on the head wasn’t a bad thing after all. It sure made me appreciate being a fiber artist, even if I didn’t touch a stitch today.
