Hello all,
It’s Sometime in July, and somewhere in the 80’s outside. I’m sitting in the dining room, wearing a long t-shirt, and a watch. It’s just too hot to do much else right now.
Last week, I sweated through some pretty nasty weather, we all did, but in reality it’s still pretty warm outside.
I have finished a hat, and started another. I have a pair of leg warmers (for arthritic knees) on the queue, and a dog is asleep at my feet.
I fell off of the diet, dived off of it in the past week. It’s time to climb back into it, because I know that gaining the weight back is not going to be a very good thing.
Emotionally, it’s been a roller coaster. I’ve had to come back to Minnesota for awhile. Again, we are working on things, and the main thing is that the farm doesn’t have air-conditioning. I was so whipped by the heat, that I couldn’t do much of anything last week. With Diabetes, Asthma, and heart-medications, I don’t think that it would be wise to be where there is no relief from the heat.
So, today, we are trying, again.
The podcast is still stalled. I don’t think I will be picking it up again any time soon. Within a few weeks, I will make the official decision as to whether I will pick it up or let it go.
Medically, I’ve hit a few problems, nothing I can’t handle, but I need to get downtown and apply to several places for assistance. Sadly, the heat is just what it is. I’m hoping to brave the heat tomorrow morning, in order to get the forms before the heat sets in.
The garden is doing what it can. We finally tried to water it yesterday. I’m hoping that the plants got enough to revive. I’m hoping, but we just may have to mow it down. The flower garden has suffered as well. We lost one rose bush, but two of them have produced a little bloom.
Amazon.com made me a great offer, and I have a couple of books coming. I know, I know, we can’t afford it right now. But with the combo deal, and buying used, I have 6 books coming. The topics are scripture and knitting.
I’m working on the wedding afghan this week in knitting and crochet. I’m working it in a version of tunisian crochet that mimics double and treble crochet. When the afghan is done, of course pictures will be posted.
My iPad is slowly dying btw. I have dropped it one too many times, and the touch screen is not as responsive as it used to be. I do plan to replace it maybe when the iPad 4 comes out next year. But I don’t think I will be replacing it with an iPad 4. Wait, iPad 4? The iPad 3 just came out. Yes, in fact it did, but you know as well as I do that like cars, there is a newer model every year. When that particular model comes out, the iPad 3’s will go down in price. Think about it.
The dogs are all napping around me. It seems that for these afternoons, they prefer the quiet and relaxation of laying down around me. I like it as well. Valentine is growing in leaps and bounds. It seems that she’s growing inches per hour right in front of our eyes. Already she can stand taller than the table, reach her head over the edge, and retrieve whatever her furry heart desires. That’s not necessarily a good thing. We’re having to be responsible adults here. She’s too precious to get sick by grabbing something that would hurt her, and my yarn and books are very precious as well.
I feel like Bilbo Baggins, snatching “my precious” away from her every few minutes. We do work with her, training her not to do this, and training her that yes, she needs to do that. It reminds me of all the other dogs we’ve had over the years, and I wonder if we did them and ourselves a disservice by getting adult dogs that already had bad habits.
Hugs all,
Louise Ann Benjamin
