Weird, but it works

Morning, have had a lovely cuppa tea, and some louisiana hot sauce on my breakfast this morning. The peppers help the pain levels. Kinda like a booster shot, you know?

Any ways, I have been working on the wee beastie of a tablet again, and I was hemming and hawing over what I was going to do for storage space. This thing is 32 gb, and I’m running out of room fast. I already deleted everything I could, and am just running the most basic of apps.

Then it hit me, I wonder if the old tablet had an sd card installed. I didn’t remember using one, but it wouldn’t hurt to check. Digging through the middle drawer of my desk, I found the little pokie, and checked the old tablet.

Boom! There it is!!!!!!!!! Woot woot! It’s the first sd card I ever bought, and the sucker only has 32 gb, but you know what? That would still double the amount of storage in the tablet.

I shut down the wee beastie, and slapped the card in there. On a restart, I got the card installation notification, and I am tickled pink. Next thing on the agenda was to open the kindle app, and whip those books over to the sd card.

Yes, I know, those books aren’t that big, but you know what? I have both the kindle and audible app. I have thousands of books. I actually want to be able to down load the mischief for my own personal use, and I’m tickled pink.

The weird thing about this card? It was the first one sold at the Verizon store in my home town of it’s size. Back when I bought it, nobody wanted to spend money on extra storage. The employee freaked a little when I said, give me the 32 gb one.

The sd card in my Amazon cart? 256 gb. And yes, I will buy the sucker and install it when it gets here.

Meanwhile, I better get back to work. Huge hugs and huggage. -L

Morning, a long day

I spent the day yesterday cussing out my poor wee laptop. She’s a good girl, and I love her. However, trying to get a laptop to do the work of a tablet is much harder than the other way around.

I finally figured out which apps I desperately need, and I am actually using the one to write this. I also played for a little bit. Not so much games, but with the apps in order to see if I could make them do what I wanted them to do.

That took hours. There are I am sure still some bugs to fix, and several things I need to cycle out. This isn’t the worst thing that has ever happened, it’s just frustrating. Soon enough, I can get back into the swing of things.

Meanwhile, I hope you are well. While my hair didn’t quite all fall out yesterday, my usual messy bun kept trying to escape, I am sure several more white hairs sprouted.

I’m thinking of just dying it all white and being done and did with all of the messiness.

That said, I better get back to work. I’m currently reviewing the step study book work, and trying to get the next post in that series live. Take care all, hugs, –L

I’m working on some things…

Hello all, and Good Afternoon.
It’s been a hellish pain weekend so far. I really am looking forward to tomorrow’s pretzel bender appointment. Hopefully, Dr Jake can get my neck and shoulder feeling a bit better. I’m getting very frustrated from taking all these pain pills. I can tell that my brain is slower, and while I am sleeping better, it’s not good. I personally think of using pain pills as similar to using a fire-hose at full strength to clean the bathroom. The pills take over the whole body, not just the area that hurts. The mental side-effects really suck, and I can tell that I am being affected. I can’t control my mind as well on pain medication as I can otherwise. Yet, the pain pills only are marginally better than the pain itself. I’m caught between pain and stupidity, and I don’t like it.

I’ve made slow progress in knitting and crochet. My computer problems took up most of my time the other day. Yuck. I did have fun, and my computer guru and his son are great people. I spent the evening with them and their family. There were many kids, ages 13 to a couple of months old. Very good people, they are. I enjoyed my time with them so much, that I felt Happy for the hours I was with them. Through them, I got the idea for Saturday’s podcast this weekend.

I called and wished my friend a Happy Birthday today, and I hope that I can get her gift done in time before I see her tomorrow. I’ve got to get back to work, but I also wanted to yak with you today. I also need to get the pattern written out here, and that is going to be a bit yet. I have maybe 4 hours work left on the purse, so I’m hoping that by tonight, I can get the pattern written and uploaded. I’m thinking of making it a downloadable pdf. But, I haven’t had breakfast yet, so I need to get cracking on that.

Beamer, my dog went for a solo walk-about… He slipped his collar this morning, and rather than run after him, (an impossibility) I decided to wait for him to come home. He’s napping in the bathroom currently. I don’t know whether to tell my husband, as he would go ballistic. I don’t need that stress today, so I’m thinking of letting it alone for the moment.

Anyhow, I’ve got to get back to work, the hubs is upstairs sleeping, so I can get the most done while he is upstairs, and I’m down here. I’ve got to get the van unloaded today, and organized for the next few days.

Hugs and such,

Louise Ann Benjamin

organically organizing a podcast

Hello all,

I am still trying to figure out what is happening when I record that makes the podcast files so huge. I’ve been running anti-virus and anti-spyware programs in deep scans left and right. I’ve also been dumping software that I’ve added since the problem occurred and re-installing some of it.

I’m sorry, this is the biggest geeky challenge of my life. However, If I need to wipe the laptop and start from scratch, I certainly will do so.

I want to say what a privilege it is to run and record a podcast. I’m so grateful for my listeners. I’m hoping to get this ironed out today. I’ll be recording all day, test episodes, to see what is going wrong, and where I am going wrong. Please be patient, I’ll be back up and running soon.

It all started with a bonk on the head…

Hello all,
Last night, I decided to work in my own “woman cave on wheels” and laid down for a bit of a nap. I woke in the middle of the night for one of those emergency dashes, and dashed my head on something harder than my melon. I saw stars, and almost lost control.
I laid down, and Thank Goodness the hubs decided to check on me. He woke me up, and made sure I came into the house so he could keep an eye on me.
It was a long night. Before long, a migraine set in, but when I called the ER nurse, I didn’t have any dangerous symptoms. In the course of the morning, we went to purchase provisions, (mother hubbard’s cupboard comes to mind here) and scurry back. By the time we got back, it was 6 am…
Between laying back in the recliner, and eventually laying down, the headache eased a bit. I’ve been too unsettled to even knit today.
However, I have been a busy bug. I updated the website, and got some wonderful help from 2 other bloggers. I wrote 2 pages, and organized my next few podcast episodes. I even made time for lunch.
The results should help, but I wish I could do more. For whatever reason, knitting or crochet weren’t in the cards today, and working on any projects just wasn’t going to happen.
I had planned to organize my studio, work on the website, and record an episode in time for me to get the production work done.
There was a point when my own voice hurt, so that just wasn’t an option.
I’ve got a meeting to go to shortly, so I don’t have time now to get any production work started. But there are many good things about today.
I was able to get out and about a bit. I was able to do some mischievous computer work. I was able to get some upgrades started for the website.
I’ve learned to let go of what I can’t control, and let God handle the rest. I just wish I could have delegated some of the other chores I needed to do today.
Oh well, the laundry can wait.
It was a scorcher today in MN, and a muggy day at that. I’m looking forward to the fall, when the skeeters die down, the leaves start turning colors, and the nights get that crisp snowy scent to them. One of my neighbors burns apple wood in his stove. It’s nights like those when I sit out with a heavy afghan in progress and let the needles or hooks fly… It’s nights like those when the hands are comforted by a nice cup of hot-cocoa.
Today, the kids were back to school. Which is a good thing, but it left me longing desperately for the fall to come.
Maybe that knock on the head wasn’t a bad thing after all. It sure made me appreciate being a fiber artist, even if I didn’t touch a stitch today.
