My favorite sandwich

Here I am with a happy full belly, and thought it would be a good time to share. I’m so happy. I just ate the best sandwich I have ever had.

Prior to this, my favorite sandwhich was a simple reuben, but I can’t afford corned beef more than once per year. I definitely don’t have a hearty pumpernickle rye in the budget either. However, we still have sauerkraut in the house, and I was heading for a sugar low.

The sandwich

  • 3 slices of cheap bread
  • a few tablespoons of sauerkraut
  • mustard
  • sliced cheese (any kind you like)
  • butter or the cheaper alternative

In a skillet place one slice of bread butter side down. Add a squirt of mustard in a spiral. Top with enough cheese to coat the bread. Top the cheese with a couple of tablespoons of sauerkraut. Top that with sliced cheese, mustard on top, then the 2nd slice of bread unbuttered. Repeat the process, mustard, cheese, sauerkraut, cheese, mustard and then top with a buttered slice of bread.

Fry till golden brown and noms on both sides. May add sliced pickles on top of the cheese or whichever extras you enjoy. Onion would be good too.

That’s it. Serve and enjoy a full happy belly.

Hugs all, have a lovely day! -L
