Morning all, I spent last night trying to stitch together a pocket, ala 18th century. Sadly, with my current method of winging it, I crashed and burned.
I ruined the fabric, and finally just threw it away. I’ve done this before, but this time, at least, I threw it out before I started swearing.
The good news, the fabric was a worn out garment that didn’t fit anymore. I’d gotten it for free years ago. The bad news, well… I wasted the thread and the time. Or did I?
I learned that my current method of planning a project just doesn’t work. I learned that I need to use pins, and that I need to plot out what I’m planning on paper at least first. Then I need to move on to the fabric.
So, it wasn’t a total waste of time. I just wish I’d done it right the first time, you know?
So rather than sitting here cussing myself out. I’m going to make a pattern, and get some definite ideas in line first. If I have to physically do more to make it right, I’m guessing I will.
I’m also tempted to make a Husswife as well. A wearable sewing kit that fits in the pocket.
In the meantime, I have to dab some antibiotic ointment on. I stabbed myself with a needle earlier.
Have a good one. -L
