Back when Dinosaurs were dragons, and a child’s fancy turned to other worlds than the class room or the chicken coop I read a book with this verse in it. Way back then, the dragon was our school mascot, so fictional stories and critters abounded in my world.
Running errands today, I realized that the poem really still stuck in my head, long after I’d read the book. You see, good books are like that. They may not haunt you in their entirety, sometimes, it’s just a snippet that sticks.
I had to have read this in 1982 or 1983. It’s the book “Can I get there by Candlelight?” By Jean Slaughter Doty.
I hope you can find yourself a copy, and enjoy. Yes, it was written for children, but aren’t we all children somewhere deep inside?
