The Rust has been settling in again

Hello all, it’s been a fiber-filled week. I’m getting quite a bit done, but the nights are becoming pure hell.

I wake up in the morning with more rust in my joints than the night before. It’s taking more each morning to get those joints moving.  I’ve got to get to the YMCA this afternoon. I know that the more I move, the more I can move.

My drop-spindle and I have been very busy. I’d purchased several bats of roving from knitpicks either last year or the year before. The yarn stash is finally low enough that it makes it worth the time to spin this yarn up. I have hopes of working with some cat fur as well, before the year is out.

The purselet is coming along fine. I did a test run with roving… Meaning, I knit up the roving, but I wasn’t satisfied with the results. I also did a swatch with hand-spun that I did up on Monday and Tuesday. 12 hours of spinning made just enough yarn, (chunky weight) to make a book mark.

I’m finding that my spinning is very fine, and I’m not interested in producing anything much thicker at this point. I’m making I suppose you could call it cobweb weight. Then I Navajo Ply the yarn with the spindle and my yarn swift. Then, I Navajo Ply it again to make the Chunky weight yarn. For sport weight, I’m just doing the one Navajo Ply.

Until Friday, which is bill-paying day, I can’t go pick up the things I need to make that spinning wheel. So, I’m not going to vary my hand-spinning at this point.

I am making the Dodec wheel, with some small variations… I talked about the dodec on the last podcast. I also plan to pick up some more roving, but not until December or January’s budget do I dare do this.

I’m doing Xmas gifts as well right now. Some of which I am knitting, some of which I am crocheting. But since knitting and crochet cause so much pain, I’m going to be making very small, simple gifts. I don’t know if this year I am going to get one gift done, let alone finish things for the greater portion of my family.

I left my wheel chair on the farm this last weekend on purpose, but I’m afraid that I’m going to be needing it before long. Damn, I didn’t want to admit that. But, even sitting here writing is hurting this morning. I apologize, but I am going to have to just post this now, I’m finding it hard to focus on the typing.
